Description
This is the paper pattern for making your very own 25 inch vintage Mr. Moon. The way we make our vintage Mr. Moon is to first cut a 25 inch circle out of plywood and paint it white. A-B plywood works the best, which is premium plywood with an "A" side and a "B" side, the "A" side being the smoothest. Rub the back of your paper pattern with charcoal or pastel covering evenly. Then lay the pattern, rubbed side down, onto your painted plywood circle using a piece of masking tape to hold it in place and trace the outlines with a dull pencil or ballpoint pen. After you've traced your pattern it's a good idea to go back over the lines with a pencil before the next step. This process can also be used to transfer your pattern onto poster board to then cut out a stencil with an X-acto or other craft knife. Next paint the shapes you traced with acrylic paint in the color of your choice. We like use a color that's a little off black with a slightly blue tint. After the paint dries, the last thing is to give your Mr. Moon that vintage look. Some of our tricks include sanding it lightly with a fine sand paper (220-320 grit), spill a little coffee or tea onto it, let it sit for a few minutes then wipe it off, maybe toss a little dirt on and rub it in, basically anything that makes it look like it was discovered in an abandoned barn, attic, or movie set. You can attach a picture hanger to the back or nail a long ribbon to the edges for hanging, and you're done.
